Step 2
Wait to receive a Confirmation by email. You should receive a reply within 48 hours of submitting a housing request. Due to the high volume of calls, we prefer that you do not call our office until you have received an email confirming your request.

Viewing the Property

How can I schedule an appointment to view the property?

Our website contains current photographs of Old Town Place. To see the interiors of specific apartments, please visit the Floor Plans & Photos page.

If you are in San Diego and would like to schedule an appointment to view the property, then we will gladly give you a personal tour. An appointment may be scheduled with the Property Manager either by telephone or email.

Note: We will be able to show you the common areas of the apartments (kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms). Out of respect for our residents' privacy, we never show occupied bedrooms.

Directions

How far is Old Town Place from my school, internship or job? And how do I get there from Old Town Place?

By visiting the Directions page of our website, you can access a map identifying the location of Old Town Place. You can get directions to/from Old Town Place using the following websites: MapQuest.com or GoogleMaps.com


How do I get to Old Town Place from the San Diego International Airport?

Hiring a taxi is the least expensive and fastest way to get from the airport to Old Town Place. The fare should cost between $17.00 - $20.00. Be sure to print the map route located on our Directions page before you leave home.

At the airport, give the taxi driver the map route. Ask the driver to take you to 2377 or 2383 Jefferson Street. (The nearest cross street is Ampudia Street.) Have the driver follow this exact route.


When I arrive by car, where do I park the car to unload my luggage?

Old Town Place has on-site parking for its residents. You may park on the gravel driveway (between the apartment building and the house) in the pad area behind the apartment building and behind the house. If you are living in the house, you may also park in the paved driveway on the side of the house.

Public Transportation

Is public transportation near Old Town Place?

Residents of Old Town Place can experience the best public transportation that San Diego has to offer. Six blocks from your front door is a major hub for the San Diego transit system: the Old Town Transit Center (at the corner of Congress and Taylor Streets). Trolley lines, city buses and regional train lines converge at this station. For more information on bus and trolley routes and schedules, you can visit San Diego Transit System - Bus, Trolley, Train website.

  • Attention SDSU students: There is service to San Diego State University using the Green Trolley Line.
  • Attention UCSD students: The FREE UCSD Shuttle service has a stop 6-blocks away at the Old Town Transit Center.
How much does it cost to take a bus or trolley?

Bus and trolley fares range start at $2.25 and depend on where in the city you want to go. For information of fares and monthly passes (student passes are also available), please visit San Diego Transit System - Bus, Trolley, Train website.


Where can I buy weekly or monthly San Diego trolley & bus passes?

Go to the "Transit Store" located at 102 Broadway on the corner of Broadway & First Avenue (downtown San Diego). The telephone number is +1.619.234.1060. Other locations that sell transit passes are: the Check Cashin Place (5th& Broadway), Ralph's Supermarket (1st & G) and Longs Drugs (Horton Plaza). You may also purchase passes from the "eStore" on the San Diego Transit website: www.sdcommute.com.


Is it better to rent or buy a car?

To rent or buy a car depends on how long you will be in San Diego. To buy a reliable used car worthy of driving will cost at least $2,000 - $4,000 dollars. You could have trouble selling it when you want to leave town. Instead, you might want to consider renting a student rental car by the month. Rentals are about $450 per month with insurance.


Can you help me find a rental car agency?

Personal Security

Do the units and property have secure keyed locks?

Yes. The front doors to all apartments security deadbolt locks. All common areas and the backyard have resident-only keyed gate access. Upon moving in, you will be issued a complete set of keys.

Do the bedroom doors have secure keyed locks?

Yes. Your bedroom door can only be locked and unlocked by you. (And rarely by our staff with 24-hour notice or in case of an emergency.)

I might be walking a lot in the area, how safe is the neighborhood?

Old Town Place is located in an urban setting. You should always keep personal safety in mind when walking through any city, especially if you are alone.

However, San Diego is a very friendly place with little street crime. Old Town Place is surrounded by major hotels that have private security, cameras and well-lighted areas.

If you are in San Diego, we encourage you to stop by Old Town Place and see for yourself.

Planning Assistance From Old Town Place

We are eager to assist our current and confirmed residents with any issue at anytime. But as a small family-owned business, we are not able to answer the huge daily volume of assistance requests from prospective residents.

Can you help me find somewhere else to live?

If you want to stay at Old Town Place but will be arriving one day or more before a bedroom is available, we can recommend several affordable hotels in the area.


Can you recommend a language school in San Diego?

There are many fine language schools, colleges and universities in San Diego - several of which are located near Old Town Place. Many of these schools refer their students to Old Town Place. To find a list of quality local schools and internships go to our Preferred Educators page.


Is Old Town Place affiliated with a university or school?

No, not directly. Old Town Place is a privately owned and operated business that offers shared furnished housing.

Apartment Information


Rental Rates & Charges

What are Old Town Place's monthly rental rates?

Does my monthly rent cover all charges for staying at Old Town Place?

Rental rates are all-inclusive. Please review our Features page.

There is a one-time Rental Initiation Fee of $150 that each resident pays when he/she moves into Old Town Place. This fee is to cover the costs of staff assistance to get you moved into an apartment, including the assistance with lease documents.


What is included with the rental of a private bedroom?

Can a couple or two friends share (live in) one private bedroom?

Since our residents expect to share their apartments with a set number of roommates, Old Town Place limits one resident per bedroom in any shared apartment.


I do not know how long I will stay in San Diego. Can Old Town Place be flexible with my move-out date?

Old Town Place offers month-to-month bedroom rentals. You must commit to live at Old Town Place for a minimum of one month. This allows for both short-term and long-term residents. You can stay as long as you would like.

If you do not know your move-out date, your continued stay will be on a month-to-month basis. We only require that a 30-day advanced move-out notice be given to the Property Manager.

Utilities

Do I pay anything for the utilities (electricity, gas, water, cable TV, Internet)?

No. Your rent includes all of these utilities.


Besides utilities, what else is directly included in my rent?

Your rent also includes bi-weekly (every other week) housekeeping of common areas. Old Town Place also replaces your light bulbs when they burn out.

Guests

Can I have friends and family stay in my room with me?

Our residents expect to share their living space with a set number of people. Therefore, Old Town Place limits one resident per bedroom and the number of guests a resident may have staying with them in their bedroom to one guest at a time. Each guest may stay up to a maximum of 1 week with not more than 2 guests allowed within a 2-month period.

A $25.00 Guest Fee per guest (per visit) will be charged to you to pay for additional utility costs. Should you require an air-bed, one can be set up with bed and bath linens by Old Town Place staff for an additional fee of $25.00.

How many stories tall is Old Town Place?

Old Town Place is comprised of 2 separate buildings: a one-story house and a two-story 3-unit apartment building. All units are accessed from the outside of the building via the ground floor or by going up one flight of stairs to the second floor.


Do the apartments have private entrances?

Each apartment at Old Town Place has a private entrance. To learn more about the entrances, please refer to the physical descriptions of all our units located on the Floor Plans & Photos page.

Note: There are five bedrooms at Old Town Place that have their own private entrance. They are: 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B.


What size are the bedrooms?

Old Town Place offers large, medium and small bedrooms. When you submit your Reservation Request Form, indicate which size bedroom you can afford. We will try our best to meet your needs upon your arrival. If the specific room you request is not available, we will place your name on the waiting list for that room.

How large are the apartments and the house?

The apartments and house at Old Town Place all have different sized living areas. The floor plan of each unit is unique unto itself although all bedrooms have the same basic amenities such as cable TV, a desktop computer, etc. Please refer to our Floor Plans & Photos web page.


How much closet space will I have?

Bedrooms have either built-in closets,wardrobe closets or contemporary metal wardrobe systems that can be moved and adjusted to fit your needs.

In general, the residents at Old Town Place are staying in San Diego on a temporary basis. Therefore, we offer clothes storage with suitcase/backpack traveling in mind.

Kitchens

Do the kitchens have everything needed to cook?

Yes. All Old Town Place units have full kitchens. Each kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, blender, rice cooker, garbage disposal, pots and pans, cooking utensils, cutlery, dishes and glassware.


Are the kitchens in the apartments and house shared?

There is one kitchen in each apartment and the house. You share the kitchen only with the (one, two or three) roommate(s) that live in your apartment or house.


Can I have a private kitchen?

You must rent an entire apartment (rarely possible) for yourself.

Furnishings

Are Old Town Place's apartments and house furnished or unfurnished?

Old Town Place provides fully furnished, contemporary styled apartments. Each apartment includes: utilities, local telephone service, cable TV, stereo, desktop computer, wireless Internet access, bed linens & towels, and a full kitchen with appliances & utensils.


Does Old Town Place offer any unfurnished apartments?

No. We do not offer any unfurnished units.


Can you tell me more about the furnishings?

What sort of furniture do you have to buy, if you want to share an apartment?

You do not need to buy any furniture. All the furniture you need is provided for you.


Can I move my own furniture into a private bedroom?

In general, you cannot move furniture into a bedroom. The exceptions to this policy are: small plants, desktop computers, stereos and other small personal electronics. If you need storage space for personal furnishings, there is locked, bulk-storage space available on the property.


Does Old Town Place provide bed linens and bath towels?

Yes. One set of bed linens and one set of bath linens will be provided. A full set of bed and bath linens includes: mattress pad, bottom sheet, top sheet, pillow with protector & pillowcase, 2 blankets, 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth. It is your responsibility to wash your bed linens and bath towels.

Air Conditioning and Heating

Does Old Town Place have air conditioning?

No, Old Town Place does not have air conditioning. Instead, every bedroom and living room has a ceiling fan. This is standard practice for rental properties and private homes throughout coastal San Diego. Old Town Place is inside the Pacific Coastal zone where cool ocean breezes and a marine layer typically keep temperatures very compfortable at 60-75 degrees Farenheit. This also helps us to conserve energy and keep our rental rates affordable.


Does Old Town Place have heating?

Yes, during the coolest months of the year (November through April) an electric space heater will be issued to each bedroom.

Housekeeping and Laundry

Is there maid service?

Yes. Old Town Place provides bi-monthly (every other week) cleaning to all common areas (kitchen, living rooms and bathrooms). The cleaning of your bedroom is your responsibility.

Are there cleaning supplies that I can use?

Each apartment is supplied with an electric floor vacuum (that works great on wood floors), as well as a broom and dust pan. Other cleaning supplies (dish soap, multi-purpose cleaners, sponges and paper towels) are your responsibility.


Can I to request to have my bedroom and linens cleaned by the maid?

No, the maid working for Old Town Place is very busy and has a set cleaning schedule to follow. You may hire your own cleaning professional to clean your bedroom.


Is washing my linens (sheets, blankets, pillow and towels) included with the weekly housekeeping?

No, residents are repsonsible for washing their bed and bath linens, including those provided to you by Old Town Place.


Where can I do my laundry?

Old Town Place has one laundry room located at the rear of the apartment building. The entrance is on the ground level, off the brick patio area. There are 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. The machines are coin-operated and require multiple quarters ($0.25). Old Town Place does not supply laundry detergent.

Parking

Do you have parking?

Yes. Old Town Place has FREE off-street parking besides the building in which you are staying. You may park on the gravel driveway (between the apartment building and the house) in the pad area behind the apartment building and behind the house. If you are living in the house, you may also park in the paved driveway on the side of the house.

Pets

Do you allow pets?

Sorry. No pets of any kind are allowed at Old Town Place. No cats, dogs, reptiles, rodents, birds, fish, or any other animals or insects are allowed in Old Town Place.

The only exception will be for residents who require the service of an assistive animal.

Mail

Do I have a private mailbox?

Each apartmenthas its own mail box. You and your roommates share the mail box. You and each of your roommates has a key to this private and secure mailbox.
